This in the long run led to the rise of the Modern Movement in the early 20th century and the following introduction of modern furniture. One of those revolutionary contemporary furniture designs was the LC2 Le Corbusier Sofa.
Section of the honored LC2 furniture collection, the Le Corbusier No. 2 or LC2 Le Corbusier Sofa was one of the first and more celebrated models of 20th century modern furniture. This two to three-sitter sofa is made up of loose square and rectangular cushions formed by an exterior tubular steel frame, a different contrast to conventional sofa designs where the framework is placed on the interior under levels of upholstery. The sofa’s tubular frame is also enclosed with chrome, polish, or a black matte enamel finish, while the cushions where loaded with polyurethane, polyester, or natural down feathers and concealed with either leather or fabric upholstery. Early production models of the LC2 Sofa frequently had black or white coverings, even though reproductions are now obtainable in other shades.

The sofa, in conjunction with the rest of the LC2 set, was later exhibited in 1929 at the Salon d’ Automne art display in Paris under the Equipment for the Home inauguration.
