Danish Modern Furniture Creation Of Eero Aarnio: The Unique Egg Chair
The Modern design movement of the early 20th century has divided out into some several branches and fashions, and possibly one of its most exceptional is the Danish Modern style. Highly accepted in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, the Danish Modern style distinguishe furniture designs completed in Denmark that united the light, sleek aspects of modernist furniture with the scrupulous craftsmanship of customary Viking furniture. One famous exemplar of such Danish modern furniture is the Egg Chair by Arne Jacobsen.
If you only wish to obtain single Danish modern furniture in your house, the Egg Chair would be a very pleasant idea. Also termed simply as the Egg, the Egg Chair is a red leather lounge chair with well-built steel supoort. The chair was created by famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, and was one of two furniture designs he has done for the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The chair’s style was said to be based by the Womb Chair of Finnish-American designer Eero Saarinens, though it is frequently argued that the Egg had a more holistic building.
To accomplish it’s rounded eggshell-like feature, the Egg Chairused space-age materials and progression. The body of the Egg Chair was completed from a hollow plaster shell, which was then instilled with “cold” polyurethane foam. Recent reproductions of the chair, yet, have replaced the plaster shell with a complex material made of synthetic polymer and very strong glass fibers. The chair’s body is fastened to a complex metal base, and built-in with a steel adjustment mechanism that permits the user to lower or raise the chair’s height.
The Egg Chairshows comparison with the Swan Chair, Jacobsen’s second furniture work for the SAS Royal Hotel. Both chairs were also constructed for a limited moment as couches, but only the Swan variation is still being produced recently. The reason for the cessation of the Egg “couch” aside from rareness was that it was difficult and very high-priced to produce.
